جاءت نهاية الكتاب مليئة بالشجن متعدد الأسباب، فحزنٌ على انتهاء الرحلة الجميلة التي استمتعت بها، وحزنُ وأنا أشاهد الرسول ﷺ يحتضر، كأني أعيش زمانه، وكأني أحتضن سيدنا عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه ساعة انهياره على الأرض من شدة حزنه وجزعه على الفراق الأليم. انفطر قلبي حين دخل الرسول ﷺ على المسلمين في صلاة الفجر الأخيرة في الليلة الأخيرة من حياته، وكان يؤمهم الصديق أبو بكر رضي الله عنه، فهمّ أبو بكر بالتراجع عن الإمامة للرسول عندما لمحه، فأشار المصطفى ﷺ له وللمسلمين أن يكملوا صلاتهم، ثم تبسّم الحبيب في وجه المسلمين كأنه يودعهم، كأنه يقول: الآن أرتاح، ليترقرق الدمع في عينيّ رغمًا عني، فرحمة الله عليك يا سيدي يا رسول الله، واللهم إنا نشهد أنه قد بلّغ الرسالة، وأدّى الأمانة، ونصح الأمة، وكشف عنا الغمة، فارزقنا شفاعته يوم أن نلقاك، إنك وليّ ذلك والقادر عليه.

ولا يمكن أخذ الكتاب وتقييمه بعد قطع الصلة بينه وبين أسباب كتابته، أو أثره على النفس؛ مهما كانت المفاضلة بينه وبين كتب أخرى ليست لصالحه.
